While watching the Hunchback of Notre Dame on YouTube, I read some commenters' comments about how Rapunzel and Quasimodo would make a good couple because they have alot in common. I thought about it, and they really do have alot in common. Still, Flynn Rider (Eugene) could never be replaced by Quasimodo, here is a list of how they are alike:
They are both raised by the villian of their movie.
Both "parents" are elderly people who are afraid of dying.
Despite being raised by their movie's villian, they are both upbeat, hopeful, and have dreams about being out of their towers and on the land.
They both have spent their lives in their towers creating things, reading, talking to inanimate objects as well as animals that usually don't talk back to humans, but have very humanistic facial expressions as well as personalities.
Both characters have to hear the villian sing about why they absolutely HAVE to stay in the tower, and how the world is scary and cruel, and how the villian is the only one who cares and loves and understands them.
They are both born with abnormal characteristics. Quasimodo is born with a humped back and a deformed figure. Rapunzel is born with long magical hair.
They are both told that the world is a cruel and wicked place, but that doesn't stop them from wanting to go out into the world and explore it.
When both characters have experienced a day of freedom, toward the end of their films, they turn on their captors and angrily tell them that the only cruel and mean people they should've stayed away from were people like them(Frollo and Mother Gothel)
They are both content with just one day of freedom
They are both early in their young adult years by the time they venture out from their tower for the first time in their lives.
They both have very fancy, acrobatic ways of jumping out of the window to get to the ground.
They both have romantic feelings toward known "criminals". Esmerelda is wanted for being a gypsy. Flynn is wanted for being a thief. Esmerelda and Flynn are also both simply gorgeous characters too.
They both have enthusiastic songs about their first day out of their towers. Who wouldn't?
When Esmerelda is condemned to be burned to death, Frollo has Quasimodo chained in the bell tower in order to stop him from rescuing her. When he does break the chains to rescue her he saves her, takes her to his room, and when she doesn't wake up he assumes she is dead, but then she wakes up again when Frollo enters the room. When Flynn is condemned to be hung, Rapunzel is handcuffed by Mother Gothel and when Flynn escapes the castle guards, he gallops to Rapunzel's tower, climbs Rapunzel's hair and is stabbed by Mother Gothel. So Flynn is dead, but not for long.
Both villians fall to their deaths, and where do they fall from? They fall from their captive's tower of course. Mother Gothel falls from Rapunzel's tower and Frollo falls from Quasimodo's tower.
Quasimodo and Rapunzel are both free to live out of their towers, but Quasimodo doesn't end up with his love interest as Rapunzel does. Quasimodo chooses to remain in the bell tower since he is the bell ringer as Rapunzel chooses to stay on the land with her royal family since she is a princess after all.
